Renting pets and underwear in Japan
Yes, I said underwear, believe it or not Embelline Marketing Co a Kyoto based undergarment maker which creates high end lingerie is now renting out it’s lingerie over the internet. So how much does renting a bra cost with Embelline? Not to much actually;
A bra sells for 13,000 yen, but the rental fee is 3,900 yen for the first month of the 15-month contract period and 500 yen for each of the remaining 14 months. The customer can keep the bra at the end of the 15 months if she so desires.
Not to expensive, and it’s a good deal to, you can keep the bra at the end of the contract. Although the price is pretty good who wants to wear used lingerie?
The garment is brand new when it is loaned out and customers are free to terminate the contract at the end of four months. They can also ask for a replacement if the one they have rented no longer fits.
Well knowing its not used should help put people at ease, but still it seems to good to be true;
14 months rent on bra cost = 7000 Yen
+ 1 rental fee for the first month = 3,900 Yen
Total Cost= 10,900 Yen, apposed to the price tag of the bra which is 13,000 Yen
Its not just underwear that’s being rented out dog’s are also a popular “Item” a company by the name of Aishin Kennel in Okazaki, Aichi Prefecture rents dogs out. You can rent the dog an entire day or even for an overnight stay.
Taiji Yamagishi, president of Aishin Kennel, says many of his customers are people who want to find out in advance whether they will be able to look after a dog. Others are condominium dwellers who can’t keep a dog at home.
Several people have ended up buying the dogs, he says, adding he is free from worry in these cases because the new owners already have hands-on experience with their particular animals.
He also said he doesn’t rent dogs out to potential customers who refuse to listen to his advice or to people whom he feels he can’t trust.
Although Taiji Yamagishi’s words seem sincere; what do you think happens to dogs which are no longer cute or animals that are no longer popular?
