Haruhi Suzumiya made it to the top 10
The Vanishment of Haruhi Suzumiya movie ranked #7 on Kogyo Tsushinsha’s chart and #6 on Eiga.com. The Haruhi Suzumiya movie was able to make about 1 million in its first two days of release while only opening on 24 screens.
Opening on only 24 screens of course led to long lines; which hardcore fan’s didn’t seem to mind considering 500 people lined up a Tokyo’s Ikebukuro district hoping to catch the first screening.
The Vanishment of Haruhi Suzumiya movie did better in the box office then both Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The Movie 1st and Fate/stay night Unlimited Blade Works did in their first week. Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha made $685,700 in its first weekend on 19 screens and Fate/stay night Unlimited Blade Works made $420,400 in its first weekend on only 12 screens.
